What an affiliate link is

An affiliate link is a link to a retailer that pays the referring site a small commission if you buy something after clicking it. The price you pay is normally unchanged. The problem with affiliate links is not the commission itself — it is the quiet incentive to recommend whatever pays best rather than whatever is best.

Rules if affiliate links are ever introduced

• Every affiliate placement will be visibly labelled where it appears, not only here.
• Affiliate links will carry the sponsored nofollow relationship required by search engines.
• No affiliate link will ever be placed inside a calculator's controls or results, where a click could be mistaken for part of the calculation.
• No product will be described as recommended, best or approved unless that judgement is explained and would stand without the commission.
• Bag yields, prices and quantities will continue to come from you and from manufacturer packaging, never from a retailer's marketing.
• This page will be updated to name the programmes involved before anything goes live.

No fake reviews or testimonials

This site publishes no product reviews, star ratings, testimonials or user counts. If you ever see such a thing here, it will be because a real one exists and its basis is explained.

Advertising is also inactive, and is covered by the privacy policy and cookie policy rather than this page.
