What is stored instead

Your region, measurement system and currency symbol are kept in your browser's local storage under a single key. Local storage is not a cookie: it is never attached to network requests and never leaves your device. It exists so the calculators open in the units you used last time.

To remove it, clear site data for this domain in your browser settings.

Why there is no consent banner

Consent rules in the UK, EU, Ireland and comparable regimes elsewhere apply to storing or reading information on your device for non-essential purposes. A remembered unit preference you set yourself is not advertising or analytics, and showing a banner asking permission for tracking that does not happen would misrepresent what the site does. We would rather be accurate.

If advertising is switched on later

Advertising networks set cookies and similar identifiers, and in many territories that requires valid consent obtained before those scripts load. The site is built with a documented integration point for a certified consent-management platform, which must be configured and live before any advertising is enabled. When that happens:

• This page will list the networks and the categories of cookie they set.
• A consent mechanism will appear where consent is legally required.
• Advertising scripts will not load before consent is given in those territories.
• The privacy policy will be updated at the same time.

Until all of that is true, advertising stays off and the reserved advertising positions in the layout render nothing at all.

Third-party embeds

There are none. No video players, maps, social widgets, comment systems, font services or tag managers are loaded, so no third party can set a cookie through this site.
